Job Title: International Freight Forwarding Coordinator (Internship Opportunity)
 
Job Summary
 
Under the direction of the Manager, International Freight Forwarding, the International Freight Coordinator  (Intern) position is to support the freight operations teams during the summertime by way of monitoring the daily load activities through managing relationships with carriers, customers, suppliers, and vendors, ensuring that goods are picked up and delivered on time. Receiving order requests at various stages and processing them to complete the service offering.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Help secure freight by determining and providing competitive rate quotes to customers.
  2. Coordinate shipments by communicating with the shipper, consignee, and dispatching to the carrier to ensure smooth transactions.
  3. Help create and prepare all import/export documentation for Ocean/Air shipments as required.
  4. Monitoring and tracing Ocean/Air shipments, ensuring they meet obligations of movement
  5. Play a supportive role in team-based strategic business planning, collaborating with the freight team and management to achieve business development goals.
  6. Help negotiate Ocean FCL/LCL, road intermodal dispatch and Air buy rates with carriers & Clients.
  7. Monitoring a variety of shipments, ensuring they meet obligations of movement.
  8. Assist with closing orders and hand them off to the accounting department.
  9.  Bill clients based on pre-arranged rate structures or spot quotes for inbound and outbound shipments.
  10.  Assist in investigating and processing freight claims as needed.
  11.  Ensure the timely and accurate completion of a variety of reports.
  12.  Involvement in updating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to client service.
  13.  Additional duties as required.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • A post-secondary education, a year four in logistics or supply chain is preferred.
  • Specific Transportation, Logistics, or other Freight – Supply chain education & knowledge is considered of great value.
  •    Knowledge of basic selling and negotiation skills
  •   Ability to work with deadlines and prioritize workload – basic project management skills are critical.
  •   Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) – Medium-level skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications in English, and strong verbal and written skills to communicate with colleagues, vendors and clients located throughout North America and worldwide.
  •  High level of attention to detail.
  •  Excellent follow-up with customers and the network.
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
  •  Able to work effectively under pressure.
 
 
Conditions
 
  1. An internship opportunity for (16 weeks - 17 weeks -/ about four months of the Summer 2026), for students in Logistics/Supply Chain Management/ Business/ or related field (preferably 4th year students/ about to graduate).
  2. A Work Integrated Learning agreement, signed by the student and their academic institution, confirming that the placement furthers their studies, is a must to submit.
  3. A proof of enrolment for the term that they are applying for is required.
  4. A learning plan, written by the student and signed by them and the employer, is required.
  5. Able to start by May  2026, first week.

Schedule:

  •  8-hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
